Welcome to our Group

The Heat Stress in Farm Animals Research Group specializes in investigating the adverse effects of heat stress on farm animal performance and exploring innovative mitigation strategies to enhance food security in regions prone to high temperatures. Recognizing that heat stress is a major contributor to reduced productivity, compromised animal welfare, and economic losses in livestock industries, the group focuses on understanding the physiological, metabolic, and behavioral responses of farm animals to thermal stress. Through these insights, the group aims to develop practical solutions that improve resilience to heat, ensuring sustainable and efficient animal production systems.

Research is conducted across various specialized facilities, including the Environmental Physiology Lab on campus at the School of Agriculture, Al-Mwaggar Research Station, and the Jordan Valley Research Center. With access to state-of-the-art resources, the group has successfully mentored over 30 graduate students at both the MSc and PhD levels, contributing significantly to the scientific community and the development of skilled researchers. Supported by over $500,000 in funding from national and international agencies, the research group has built a reputation for excellence and impact. Strong connections with the private sector and collaborations with international universities further enhance the group’s research potential, as it strives to translate research findings into practical applications in the livestock sector. Welcoming new members, the team remains committed to advancing knowledge and addressing the challenges posed by heat stress in animal production.
